Under the leadership of Brian Walters and Jake Gilbreath, Walters Gilbreath, PLLC, has developed into a client-focused, results-driven family law firm providing clients with unparalleled legal counsel throughout the state of Texas and has earned a reputation as being fierce and effective advocates, both inside and outside of the courtroom. The Walters Gilbreath team prides themselves on communication and being available for clients when they need them the most. They will advocate for you and your family as if they were their own.

What were the values that were important to you when you all started Walters Gilbreath, PLLC?
Brian Walters:Integrity, client service, results.
Jake Gilbreath:Communication, Communication and Communication.

Do you have any areas of experience that might not be available at all family law firms?
Brian: I’ve owned non-law firm businesses, so I understand what it is like to own and run a business, like many of our clients. I also grew up as a ‘military brat’ and traveled all over the world.
Jake: I’m divorced and remarried with a blended family and a special needs kid so that pretty much covers it! All joking aside, I have spent a good portion of my career honing my skills in jury trials, business valuation litigation and high net worth divorces.

Tell us about the WG Dallas office and how it started.
Brian: I started getting calls from clients in Dallas about ten years ago, while I was based in Austin. I thought that was odd at first, but they explained that they just wanted the best lawyer in Texas, regardless of location. We eventually decided we wanted a ‘real’ office there, so we opened one and it has blossomed.
Jake: I'm like Brian, we go where people need good lawyers. We communicate. We do a great job. And the rest just works itself out.

Tell us about your family law podcast, “For Better, Worse, or Divorce.”
Brian: Our podcast started out as an experiment that we thought we’d do a few times. The response was extraordinary and we’ve enjoyed doing it, so now we release episodes bimonthly. We’ll keep making episodes as long as there continues to be interest.
Jake: I like that the podcast really doesn't have much of a format, but rather it’s us getting as much information out there as we can, from a variety of sources. There shouldn’t be any secret to what we do, and if people want to hear us ramble about what our lives look like, we are always happy to share!

What advice would you give someone in the beginning stages of divorce?
Brian: Count to 10, take a deep breath and don’t make any decisions you can’t reverse if you can avoid them. Of course, I’d advise getting a good lawyer.
Jake: …a good lawyer that knows it's not the end of the world. I always tell clients I know divorces are no fun, but we're going to be there with you every step of the way.
