Constantly carving new paths of opportunity and exciting adventures to embark on, Dallas Cowboys legend and Dallas darling—our very own Eight the Great—has thrown a new endeavor into the mix. As a foray into the beverage industry, Aikman celebrates the launch of EIGHT.
You mentioned that life is full of special moments and those moments need to be celebrated. Can you elaborate? EIGHT is for the people who consistently put in the hard work and get better every day. These folks, myself included, are conscious of what we put in our bodies, and options for a light, refreshing beer that’s brewed with organic ingredients are virtually nonexistent. Taking the time to reflect and celebrate is critical when you’re constantly pushing yourself in pursuit of your goals.
As your foray into the industry, what are you most excited about? I drink beer and always have liked beer, but I never imagined I’d be the one making the beer. I spent time in the hop fields of Oregon and invested hours of taste-testing to develop the final product, with a fast finish. I’m excited to share it with Texans who want to celebrate without compromise.
What makes Mi Cocina a perfect partner for EIGHT? It’s an iconic brand that feels like home. The Highland Park location is one of my favorite neighborhood spots. I’m happy that my friends and neighbors can now enjoy EIGHT at all 21 Mi Cocina locations across North Texas. Cheers.
Tell us about your music festival, Highway to Henryetta. Henryetta is my hometown, and I want to pay it forward because the people there made me the man I am today. It was one of the best experiences of my life to grow up in storybook small-town America. Who I am, what I believe and whatever character that I have came from Henryetta, Okla. As a nod to its continued resilience, Highway to Henryetta is a celebration of that community—an event that will raise much-needed funds for the school district and bolster the entire community. Small-town America needs to know it isn’t forgotten, and I think this effort will give my Henryetta High Fighting Hen classmates a chance to strut a little.
What propels you to constantly explore new opportunities? I’ve worked hard over the years, but I’ve also been very fortunate with opportunities in front of me. Most of my passion projects stem from my genuine interest in overall health and wellness. I constantly work on being a better person and father to my daughters, and it’s been both rewarding and meaningful to pursue different business and philanthropic ventures as they grow older.
