Top Trend List!

The Premise The stilettos were out. Were you? FNO flung its potent punch at our city harder than ever with cocktail parties galore, runway shows in spades and chic little soirées here, there and everywhere. Style-obsessed overachievers had a marathon to run, sprinting all across town while flinging air kisses and mentally flagging all the best fall looks to return to (in more comfortable shoes), while others held court in one or two destinations, content to not be bothered with valet lines or the strict schedules necessary to ensure not a scene was missed. Admittedly, we were in the former category—and we’re still catching our breath. Here, an abridged version of the crush of people, the collection of places and the MVP. The Play-by-Play Up first, a dash into The Shak at Stanley Korshak for frozen libations, some gem time with Amanda Sterett and Lolo Jewels’ Stephanie Curtis, and a whiz by the snazzy social media station, where a photog snapped pics of stylish partiers posing off to win a shopping spree. Bonus? We left with bags of flavored popcorn—to power through the rest of night, natch. On to Forty Five Ten to gaze at fall collections from some of our edgy faves like Haider Ackermann, Junya Watanabe, Jil Sander, and Holmes and Yang. More spice for this little fiesta came with Mr. Mesero bites, Patrón margaritas and music from DJ Lucy Wrubel. Modish mecca NorthPark Center was up next; we loved the Roberto Cavalli “Red Carpet” exhibit of celeb gowns and a glimpse of the three fashion shows in NorthCourt featuring looks from the center’s hottest retailers. In-store events were many, but Neiman Marcus perhaps packed in the most thrills with its triple-level lineup of DJs (Blake Ward was on two), a sketch artist, sweet confections, a kissing booth in beauty and even cigars and scotch for the guys. Speaking of NM, the retail powerhouse’s location at Willow Bend was perfect FNO fun, especially with sounds from DJ Jose Guevara and Aubree-Anna, a cute pooch parade down the catwalk, plus a women’s trend show hosted by Rhonda Sargent Chambers and a men’s version that featured FC Dallas soccer players as guest models. Then it was a race to Galleria Dallas; we had to see the quarter-mile-long catwalk again, where fashion show producer Jan Strimple put her creative talent to good use, as a crush of guests gathered to witness the spectacle—or take their own walk down the style aisle. A trip to Tootsies yielded photo-booth entertainment and food-truck treats, as a hip set of host bloggers, including Katie Bibb Anderson, Genniva Bruce, Allison Edwards and Jen Smith, made the rounds. Highland Park Village was the grand finale—we made it just in time to pop into cool-girl Stella McCartney’s shop and to see Christian Louboutin’s quirky X-ray light boxes and tarot-card readings. Afterwards, the second of two runway extravaganzas commenced, also imagined by Strimple, with models strutting out exits from the likes of Akris, Carolina Herrera, Five and Ten and more. Whew!
