It’s true what they say: everything’s bigger in Dallas. The barbeque, the bourbon, even the bottomless brunch.
At least, that’s what the proprietors of The Place 2 Be are hoping. The millennial-inspired brunch eatery announced recently that they’ll be bringing a new branch into the Dallas area. Moving into the space formerly home to Dibs on Victory – directly across the street from American Airlines Center – the new spot will be the restaurant’s seventh location, and the first outside of New England. Headlined by brand partner and Dallas Maverick Tim Hardaway Jr, the location is aiming to open in 2023 following a bit of redevelopment.
“Dallas represents a big step for us. For the first time ever, we are taking The Place 2 Be outside of New England – the first of more national locations to come,” said Gina Luari, founder and CEO of TP2B and The Statement Group, in a press release. “I want it to be a national brand, and for us to be able to take it there, we have to have the corporate structure for that.”
The Place 2 Be was founded in 2015 inspired by a “balance of comfort and innovation,” according to their website. Every location brings Instagram post-worthy tongue-and-cheek decor, like a bathtub filled with plastic pearls, neon signs and drinks topped with candy or rubber duckies, for example. The brand also really tries to lean into the “bottomless” in “bottomless brunch,” with “booty-shaped” mimosa glasses and “booty call” newsletters headlining their website.
Beyond the flair, The Place 2 Be also offers a wide variety of breakfast foods, aiming to appeal to both the most seasoned and the less-than-knowledgeable of foodies. Diners can order several different “Brunch Boxes” – including a “Pancake Board” and a “Burrito Box” – as well as omelets, eggs and others. Most noteworthy is their famous “stacks,” a giant sandwich of carbs often featuring some crazy flavors in between, such as the “Cinnamon Toast Crunch Stack” and the “Fruity Pebble French Toast.”
For those just looking for a drink, staples like the sangria are available, but also loaded milkshakes – which can be spiked with alcohol – and frozen hot chocolate. There’s also a $60 mimosa appropriately titled the “Big Ass Mimosa,” as well as “The Booty Call,” a blue raspberry and tequila cocktail.
While the Dallas location will be the brand’s seventh, it promises a new twist to the brand. The restaurant will be the first The Place 2 Be with a rooftop bar, and the largest location yet at 6,900 square feet. Promising a view of the American Airlines Center, this is perhaps the best place to spend a Saturday afternoon before heading in to see the Mavericks or Stars take down their opponent.
Grab your glass and raise a toast, The Place 2 Be will soon certainly be Dallas. See you there.
