It’s not often that Dallas philanthropist Roxane West isn’t seen with her 1-year-old Maltese, Lucky West III. “He’s actually 1 year and 10 months on March 8,” she says. Spoken like a true fur mommy. Lucky West III, known intimately as Luxey, is Roxane’s constant and loyal companion. Dividing their time between Dallas’ tony Preston Hollow neighborhood and a 5,000-square-foot loft in Tribeca, this duo always travels in style. “He’s come to London, Berlin, Paris, St. Moritz, Switzerland; he’s even eaten at six Michelin-star restaurants in Paris in one day,” says Roxane. “We lived at the Greenwich Hotel during my renovation and everyone there knows him.” To keep up with Roxane’s jet-set lifestyle, Luxey has a wardrobe equally as posh. His 25-plus Hermès pocket squares can be interchanged to match his multitude of Hermès coats, leashes, collars, dog carriers and a rain coat from the famed French fashion house. As his name indicates, he’s the third Maltese that Roxane has owned. When she was devastated by the death of Lucky West II, a friend took her to the Westminster Dog Show. “My aunt, [after] whom my dogs are named, was from Texas; I’m from Texas; and my dog needed to be from Texas,” says Roxane. “And sure enough, the woman who won everything in the Maltese category was from Rhapsody Maltese in Buda, Texas.” Just like that age-old adage about everything being bigger in Texas, Luxey’s lush life is just another testament to that.
