The Big Reveal

| November 29, 2016 | Parties National

The Nasher Sculpture Center announced its 2017 laureate to Dallas’ art elite.

Director of the Nasher Sculpture Center Jeremy Strick invited Dallas’ art patrons to the second annual Nasher Prize Laureate Reveal, a cocktail gathering during which he announced the 2017 prize recipient, French multidisciplinary sculpture artist Pierre Huyghe.

Co-chairs of this year’s Nasher Prize Gala Sharon Young and Deedie Rose joined Cindy and Howard Rachofsky, who hosted the evening’s celebration at The Warehouse along with presenting sponsor JPMorgan Chase & Co., and founding partners The Eugene McDermott Foundation, and Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger. Dallas elite including artist Allison V. Smith, gallerist Barry Whistler, Catherine Rose, Amy Faulconer, art advisor Cindy Schwartz, Derek Wilson, John and Jennifer Eagle, and Lucilo Peña all gathered to fete the new winner.

After Strick made his announcement with help from his lovely co-chairs, guests posed with Huyghe’s La Déraison, a large artificial stone casting of a headless woman whose nudity is covered with a mossy patina. Maybe she’ll come to the gala?–Nadia Dabbakeh
