GREAT EXPECTATIONS Forget those sappy Sweethearts candies and cast aside the cliché boxes of chocolates, the real desserts at the Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show were the decadent confections strutted out on the Stanley Korshak catwalk (oh, and the red velvet mini-Bundt cakes). The soirée held plenty in store for guests, who flirted with the love-struck holiday and channeled a collective tendency to think pink—parading plenty of rosy ensembles through the Hilton Anatole’s Chantilly Ballroom. LUNCHEON LOVE Themed “Heart and Sole” and sponsored by Modern Luxury Dallas, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s benefit event honored Ray Johnston with the Lynda Adleta Heart of Gold Award. The NBA pro and musician charmed the crowd with his endearing humor and his undeniable strength as a four-time leukemia survivor. Teens Dalton Douglas and Kenedy Kundysek received the Spirit of Tom Landry Character Award. ROMANCING THE RUNWAY Fashion show producer and director Jan Strimple never ceases to amaze. Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” echoed through the ballroom before a visual exuberance of Korshak’s spring looks hit the runway. Nearly 75 bright Technicolor exits from a hot alphabet of designers (Alexander McQueen to Rachel Zoe!) made way for a finale from Chadwick Bell that was coolly steeped in pale incarnations of silk faille, organza, taffeta and tulle.
