Renowned composer Steven Mackey has written One Red Rose for the Brentano String Quartet in commemoration of 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The work has been commissioned by the Nasher in conjunction with Carnegie Hall and Yellow Barn in Vermont. The Brentano String Quartet, clarinetist Charles Neidich and pianist Seth Knopp will play the piece, along with works by Olivier Messiaen and John Cage. An encore performance of One Red Rose, will take place the following evening, November 24, 2013, at the Sixth Floor Museum. Both concerts will include a discussion with the audience.
