She's the new president and chief creative officer of Forty Five Ten. So, what exactly does Kristen Cole have planned for everyone's favorite homegrown luxury boutique?

When Forty Five Ten, was founded in 2000 by Shelly Musselman, Brian Bolke and Bill Mackin, it was decidedly intimate and local.

With the acquisition of the luxury boutique in 2014 by Headington Cos. came many changes. And the newest change is named Kristen Cole.

“I really know how to fold very well,” quips Cole about her first job in retail at The Gap in New York City. As the co-founder of TenOverSix, which along with her new appointment was also acquired by Headington Cos., and a recent run as the creative director of ByGeorge in Austin, she’s got the passion and experienced retail chops needed for a job that includes not only reformulating the buy at Forty Five Ten, but also expanding the store into new markets, most noteably Hudson Yards in New York City in March 2019. Cole and her husband, Joe, who also works for Headington as a consultant, will remain in Austin with their two young sons and commute to Dallas for a few days a week.

So what’s going to change? “Everything,” says Cole. “The culture is directive number one. We need to be more approachable and fun.” Next? The clothing. “My focus has always been on beautiful, timeless pieces,” Cole says. “We’ll speak one language: modern, clean and elevated.” The selling floor will shrink to make room for new artful components; TenOverSix will move to the first floor while floors two and three will be Forty Five Ten’s territory. “I know very clearly where we’re going,” Cole states. Dallas can’t wait to come along for the ride.
