Traditional twists and elevated style beckon at this Mediterranean manse tucked in Highland Park.
The living room offers a cool-hued respite featuring custom rugs from Interior Resources, side tables from Modern History and upholstered furniture from Stanford.
“My clients wanted something truly unique, with lots of color and layers that reflected their personal style,” says interior designer Roz Murphy of Roz Murphy Design. “The interior architecture was very traditional, but we were able to add contemporary elements with the color palette and some more transitional furniture for a flawless blend.” Weaving her signature warm vibrancy and sophisticated touch throughout the course of the project, Murphy worked diligently with the homeowners to execute a modernized twist to their existing Mediterranean home.
The dining room touts Stroheim grasscloth wallcovering, gold ceilings, custom chandeliers and more.
Murphy first met her clients through the builder yet found that they had an instant connection. “It was a collaboration, which made the process so fun,” notes Murphy. “The homeowners would share some inspiration ideas and then allow me to channel those ideas when making selections.” The end result? An elegant blend of form and function to enjoy as a growing family.
The open-concept kitchen comes to life with a custom Lacanche stove, sleek countertops from The Stone Collection and sconces from Visual Comfort.
Embracing sparks of color and playful prints met with a fully functional aesthetic, Murphy enlisted some top hits including textured wallcoverings from Osborne & Little in the upstairs lounge, custom rugs in the living room from Interior Resources and decadent chandeliers from Luxe for Kravet. Another win? A custom Lacanche Range. “The kitchen was the primary focal point for the clients as the husband loves to cook,” shares Murphy. “He wanted an open-concept plan where the range faces the room.” For a family that loves to entertain, each room was carefully curated to do just that.
