Talk to us about the inspiration behind Purva Design Studio. What do you and your team do best?
The inspiration behind creating Purva Design Studio came from a deep desire to merge architecture and interior design into a seamless, holistic practice. After years of working in the field, I realized that the most successful projects are those where the exterior and interior are designed in harmony from the very beginning. I wanted to create a studio that embraced that philosophy, where every detail—from the overall form of the building to the smallest interior finish—was thoughtfully considered as part of a cohesive whole. Our mission is to create environments that are beautiful, functional, and tailored to the unique needs of each client. What sets us apart is our collaborative approach. We’re not just designing homes; we’re crafting personal sanctuaries that reflect the lives and stories of the people who inhabit them.

How do you keep things easy but still elevated when hosting at home?
For me, the key to keeping entertaining easy but elevated is all about thoughtful planning and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. I like to focus on a few essential elements that make an impact without overcomplicating the process. I always start by designing the space with flow in mind—ensuring there’s plenty of room for people to move around comfortably, while also creating cozy areas for conversation.
Lighting is one of the simplest ways to elevate the ambiance without much effort. I rely on layers of soft, warm lighting, like dimmed overhead lights paired with candles or table lamps, to set a relaxed, festive mood. It instantly makes the space feel more intimate and special, especially for evening gatherings.

When it comes to the table, I love to keep things elegant but understated. Natural materials like linen napkins, simple but beautifully designed dinnerware, and fresh greenery as a centerpiece can create a sophisticated yet effortless look.
As for food and drinks, I believe in focusing on quality over quantity. Serving a signature cocktail or a few curated dishes instead of an overwhelming spread allows me to enjoy the event as much as my guests. I like to prepare as much as possible ahead of time so that I can be present and enjoy the company instead of being stuck in the kitchen.

Focusing on the home, what are some gifting ideas for your design-forward friends?
When it comes to gifting for design-forward friends, the key is finding pieces that marry aesthetics and functionality—items that feel special but also complement their home’s overall design. As both an architect and interior designer, I always look for gifts that are thoughtfully crafted and can enhance the spaces we live in. Here are a few of my favorite ideas: -Artisanal Home Decor Pieces: Think sculptural objects like handcrafted vases, modern candleholders, or unique ceramic pieces. These items can double as both decor and functional accents, adding a layer of sophistication to any space.
-Textiles with Texture: Textiles are an easy way to change the feel of a room, and for design-forward friends, high-quality, textured throw blankets or pillows in neutral tones can make ideal gifts.
-Coffee Table Books: Design-forward friends often appreciate inspiration, and a beautifully curated coffee table book about architecture, interior design, or art can be a thoughtful gift.
-Bespoke or Custom Pieces: If you want to go the extra mile, consider a bespoke gift like customized coasters, personalized artwork, or a one-of-a-kind tray.

What are some design trends you’re excited to see?
I’m excited to see a return to warmer, more textured interiors and a deeper emphasis on natural, sustainable materials. The shift toward spaces that feel cozy yet sophisticated is really taking hold, and I think it reflects a growing desire for comfort and connection in our homes.
