THE SETTING “This has to be the chicest audience I’ve ever seen,” glowed author Justine Picardie at a delightful afternoon tea, hosted in her honor at the home of Gene Jones. On a national tour to support the new limited edition of her tome, Chanel: Her Life, Picardie made Dallas her last stop, after jaunts to New York City, Boston and Los Angeles. She shared her Coco stories for about an hour (not nearly long enough!), much to the group’s delight. OVERHEARD Gene Jones on Chanel: “One of the 20th century’s most captivating personalities.” Picardie on opening Chanel’s wardrobe filled with the designer’s clothes: “It was the closest I have ever gotten to discovering Narnia.” Photos by Richie Humphries
