1. What first inspired you to launch Plant Style?
Plant Style is a dream in the making. After working 10 years in mental health and having my first son, Cooper, I decided to stay home with him. I quickly found I needed a therapeutic hobby to balance out my stay-at-home mom days. So I started learning all about plant varieties and care, and began growing and propagating my own plants in my home. I sold my plants at pop-up shops all over Dallas and at a few local gift stores in Lake Highlands. From shoppers, I countlessly heard, ‘I kill everything!’ or ‘I can’t even keep succulents alive,’ and ‘I love plants but don’t understand how to take care of them.’ They were frustrated by their inability. I realized then, while people want plants in their homes, they just aren’t confident in how to keep them alive. I knew I could help them overcome this lack of confidence and bring plant joy back into their lives. Thus, Plant Style, an interior plant styling company, was born.
2. Tell us more about your services.
We are a creative and passionate full-service interior plant styling company. We start with an interactive interior plant consultation, where we assess your interior lighting, your style, your lifestyle or event, and then we recommend plants that will be the perfect fit. After that, sit back as we make all your plant dreams come true. We take care of all the shopping, planting and installation with handselected plants and customized plant designs, with individualized care instructions for each plant. And for those who may need a tad more help caring for their plants, we provide maintenance services. Plants are the final layer to your interior design, and we strive to make this a personal and enjoyable experience for all of our clients.
3. What has been your favorite project so far?
Oh, I have so many! I really enjoy being known as the Plant Lady. I love being able to add a fresh, modern spin to plants as gifts for any occasion. I’m so thankful for all the support I’ve been given, especially in my community and from fellow mompreneurs like myself. There have been countless times where one of our plant arrangements is gifted to someone in grief or need, and it brings great joy to know that we are lifting someone’s spirits through our designs. Even with all of this, my favorite projects are when I have the opportunity to work with and be inspired by the talented interior designers in Dallas. I am very much team-oriented and enjoy working with other professionals to deliver the best to our clients. Some of my favorite people today are those who I’ve met and become great friends with through these design partnerships. The support we have for one another and our businesses means a great deal to me, and I’m thankful for the encouragement they have given me in the growth of Plant Style.
4. Please share any tips and tricks for holiday entertaining.
Holidays are all about entertaining. Here’s our favorite ways to bring green into your holidays:
● What a better way to say thank you than gifting a live plant to your host they can enjoy all year?
● Wrap succulents in burlap with a festive ribbon and place with name cards on your dining table
● Add pretty ornaments, garland or mini lights to your succulent arrangements, plants or year-round trees.
● Don’t forget the mistletoe!
5. What would your advice be on how to get a fresh start for the new year?
More plants! Plants not only clean the air, they bring a calming effect to every space. Larger plants can also be an effective tool to reduce household noise. Adding plants can immediately freshen your space, reset your outlook and help you gain a positive onset into the new year. Regardless of the time of year, everyone should start their day with observing, touching and caring for their plant babies! Sounds cheesy, but I promise it will make a difference in your life. Chances are you will slow down, take a deep breath and enjoy those fleeting moments.
