Dallas’ finest gathered at Winspear Opera House the morning of Nov. 9 for Planned Parenthood’s 32nd annual Dallas Awards. The event raised over $3 million to support essential healthcare services, sex education programs and advocacy on behalf of all Texans.

Mother-daughter co-chairs Joanne and Alysa Teichman welcomed an elite crowd, including Congressman Colin Allred; Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins; State Representatives Chris Turner, Jasmine Crockett and Rhetta Bowers; and Dallas City Councilwoman Jaynie Schultz. After a keynote speech by Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of American and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Debbie Barnes was presented with the Gertrude Shelburne Humanitarian Award.

A moving performance by Booker T. Washington high school students and the Voices of the Gospel choir wowed the crowd, after which Maverick’s DJ Poizon Ivy mixed some groovy tunes. Guests noshed on passed apps washed down with mimosas and Bellinis, then headed to some of Dallas’ hottest restaurants to continue the party—participating eateries like Alice, Grange Hall and Le Bilboquet donated 20% of the days proceeds to the cause.
