It is a day of celebration for the fashion industry. The iconic, stylish and chic Phoebe Philo is launching her own brand.
The former artistic director of French ready to wear brand Celine has been on a hiatus for three-and-a-half years, and now we know what has been up her shiny sleeves.
Philo helped take Celene and Chloe by Stella Mccartney to great heights and is looked upon as a fashion mogul and inspiration for many. It is no surprise that she is now starting her own brand, putting her name where her aesthetic is and creating her own independent clothing and accessories line, Phoebe Philo.
LVMH, the French luxury conglomerate that controls more than 60 subsidiaries including Celine, has made a minority investment in Phoebe's new venture and will have a minority stake in the brand.
In her much awaited announcement, Phoebe talks about her journey and process.
“Being in my studio and making once again has been both exciting and incredibly fulfilling,” she’s quoted in the New York Times. “I am very much looking forward to being back in touch with my audience and people everywhere.”
Known as the "quiet revolutionary,” Philo spent her time off the grid on social media and has avoided the paparazzi well. Not much more is known about the forthcoming brand, but more information is promised in January 2022.
We did get a few details from the announcement, though. The line will be based in Philo’s homebase of London and focused on “exceptional quality.” LVMH Chairman Bernard Arnault called the new line an “entrepreneurial adventure.” '
Philo was one of the most-wanted artistic directors for LVMH, and it is clear how much they believe in her exceptionalism and ability to succeed. Her credibility has only continued to build over the years, and the launch of her own line has answered the prayers of women all over the world.
No doubt Philo will change the world with her perspective on fashion. January just can not come soon enough. Who is ready?
