SINGER-SONGWRITER PARKER MCCOLLUM WILL HIT THE STAGE AT THE HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED ACM LIFTING LIVES SET FROM MAY 15. WE TAPPED THE TEXAS-BASED ARTIST TO LEARN MORE.
You have had the honor of winning the lauded ACM Award. What does that mean to you?
It was one of the biggest honors I’ve received in my short country music career. Watching the ACMs growing up and getting to be on the television show one day and perform and win an award is something I still hold near and dear to my heart. It’s one of my favorite memories of my career and country music so far.
Tell us a bit more about your involvement with ACM.
I support ACM lifting lives because of the incredible work they have done and continue to do. They are improving lives, to the power of music in so many ways and helping those in and out of our country music community in times of need. I can’t wait to help raise funds to help them continue all their work.
How was performing in Texas different from other places?
It’s just home, you know? Texas is where we came up—you know—the first bars where we played, where kids started showing up singing every word and every song, were right here in Texas, where I grew up. So as soon as we get across that state line, whether we’re in El Paso, Houston, or Amarillo doesn’t matter. I know my body and spirit can feel when I’m in Texas, that I’m home, and that I have a little more pep in my step, and I always look forward to it!
What are you most looking forward to for the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards?
It’s country music’s party of the year. I cannot wait to bring the party back home to Texas—see you all there!
