THE SHOW It was a standing-room-only situation during the Lafayette 148 New York fashion presentation at Neiman Marcus NorthPark Center, co-hosted by Modern Luxury Dallas. The packed house came ready to preview the label’s fall collection, stomped out by models on a mini-runway, amid glasses of bubbly and bon mots. We lost count of how many looks caught our eye—as expected, the line sported many shades of career “couture,” as well as surprisingly edgier interpretations suitable for after-hours endeavors. An impossibly chic black gown cinched with a leather sash was a finale piece we could see at more than a few soirĂ©es this season. THE SHOPPING After the show, a mass exodus of shoppers headed to the Lafayette 148 racks cleared the runway area, and a frenetic mix of style-savvy shoppers and sales associates alike toted hangers of texture-blocked, architectural and graphically printed trends. SPOTTED Designer Edward Wilkerson didn’t just do his post-catwalk-show wave and jet off—he played personal stylist to guests during the retail reception. Towering models also stuck around in their runway exits, providing inspiration and probably just a bit of height-envy among the more vertically challenged. Photography by Daniel Driensky
