Working with a department store is always the dream for designers, and Nicole Williams English (@justtnic) has officially fulfilled that dream.
Model, entrepreneur and social media sensation, Williams English has launched her collection Nicole Williams English x bar III, exclusively with Macy’s.
“It's always been a dream of mine to have my own line at a department store, and of course, Macy's is one of the largest. All my younger years I shopped at Macy's,” Williams English continued, “It’s just kind of nostalgic for me.”
The collection explores Williams English’s personal style, which she described as “Street Chic.” Featured pieces include dresses, jumpsuits, oversized blazers, wide-legged pants, shorts and a variety of tops from t-shirts, blouses, tank tops and more.
When designing this collection, Williams English knew how important it was to tap into her personal style. “For a girl on the go, a very busy woman whether it's a mom who works in the office to a busy single girl who's traveling. This collection can be more of grab and go, mix and match, she can wear it with anything, dress it up or dress it down,” she explained.
From a business meeting to lunch and through the night, Williams English has created a timeless collection that can truly be worn from dawn until dusk.
This partnership with Macy’s was very full circle for the model and designer, as she had originally met Hilda Batayneh, founder and executive creative director of Reunited Clothing four years ago. Fast forward to six months ago, the two reconnected and the concept of Williams English creating a line with Macy’s was officially brought to life.
The process started with a few mood boards, and her focus on exploring her personal style through the collection and quickly turned into samples. After the design process was complete and the final versions were ready, she headed out to the team's offices for the finishing touches. “I flew to New York a couple of months ago to finalize it. I love to try on my pieces, that's a big thing for me. I like to try it on, feel the fabric and see how it fits and also see it on other models, different shapes and sizes. But definitely at the end, when I finalize everything, I like to see it on myself.”
Williams English’s personal style has been perfectly emulated through these thoughtful designs, while also creating an affordable line. Price point was at the forefront of the design process, with all 19 pieces under $100.
As a style icon to her over 2.2 million followers, Williams English has encapsulated all things street chic with this collection, and she cannot wait to see her fans and followers sporting her designs.
