The Metrocare Auxiliary, a group of 145 volunteers, will host the luncheon, which includes the 7th annual Edible Auction featuring cakes from Dallas' top pastry chefs. The luncheon also features a fifth annual art sale of work by Art Focus XC, an elite group of juried Dallas artists.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Lisa Genova, New York Times bestselling author and Neuroscientist, invites us into the world of autism through the thoughts of a young boy, Anothony whom we meet in her remarkable book "Love Anothony". Dr. Genova graduated valedictorian from Bates College with a degree in Biopsychology and has a Ph.D. in Neurosceince from Harvard University. She has appeared on Dr. Oz, CNN, Diane Rehm and was featured in the Emmy award-winning documentary film about Alzheimer's, To Not Fade Away. Dr. Genova uses fiction to explain people living with neurological diseases and conditions that are reared, ignored, or misunderstood, portrayed within a story that is accessible to the general public.
The Edible Auciton & Arts Sale begins at 11:00 a.m. and the Lunch Program will begin at 11:45 a.m.
