The ultimate goal was to create a unique home that, despite being on a standard interior city lot, has courtyards, an abundance of glass and natural light, and a SoCal/Asian-inspired vibe that reminds the client of their travels,” shares Eddie Maestri, founder of the multidisciplinary firm, Maestri Studio, who was tapped by homeowners Jordan and Shawn Flynn as they set out to build the home of their dreams.

With a true sense of wanderlust on top of their minds, the couple wanted to thread this theme throughout the space. “We learned more about what inspired them from their time in China and the items they brought back with them/ collected,” notes Maestri. “Pulling from my travels to Japan, I brought in elements that I felt would be the perfect blend of Asia/SoCal/ and Texas.” The result is a midcentury oasis that summons a sense of adventure. Weaving unique elements such as the wood slat detailing, a double waterfall island in the kitchen, sky-high ceilings and a melding between indoor and outdoor living, the home, bathed in natural light, is truly a showstopper.

“Clients want spaces that feel unique and one of a kind. They want to feel inspired at home and bring elements from places they have lived or traveled.” –EDDIE MAESTRI
