Keeping Time

| March 14, 2013 | Parties National

THE SETTING Kent Rathbun just so happens to be a fan of Panerai watches—so lucky us, when Rafael Alvarez (Panerai president, North America) came to town, the chef opened the doors of his penthouse for a private event, a custom menu and a little bit of shopping. THE SCENE Enthusiasts and collectors tried on timepieces while enjoying Italian wine and Rathbun’s curated selection of hors d’oeuvres, such as Chianti-braised pork cheeks and prosciutto Gorgonzola turnovers, all inspired by his fave Panerai pieces. THE CROWD The intimate crowd enjoying Rathbun’s impressive view of Dallas included more than a few good men, such as Bobby Baillargeon, Randall Goss (discussing his football days with some rather impressed ladies), Bill Hutchinson, Mark Stafford, Steve Stodghill, Michael Wilkov and others. Add to the crowd a bevvy of beauties—Tamara Bickel, Kandis Hutchinson, Erin Mathews, Tracy Rathbun and Susie Straubmueller—and those pretty timepieces were just about outshined. And when the night got chilly, Panerai’s team came to the rescue with some quite impressive gift bags containing cozy cashmere. Photography by Daniel Driensky
