It's a Guy Thing

| May 22, 2012 | Parties National

THE PARTY Rugged to refined, dandy to urban and just downright handsome, the men had their moment—and so did fashion—at Modern Luxury Dallas’ annual Men of Style party, hosted at Neiman Marcus Downtown. First order of business: toasting the men who personified sartorial swagger—Colin Duchin, Bryan Embry, Donald Fowler, Suraj Jagannathan, Russ Patrick, Jeffrey Swiggart and Chris Trowbridge. Partygoers also took in NM’s windows featuring the handsome septet and the dressed-to-impress mannequins on level three, clad to resemble each man’s individual style. THE TIES THAT BIND We couldn’t help but notice the infusion of hues that colored the crowd—from floral prints (on both sexes) to green and periwinkle pants, pastel button-downs to purple and cerulean suit jackets, not to mention bold, plaid bow ties at every turn. SUITED UP DJ Lucy Wrubel outfitted the evening with a hot song list—and played to the theme with her androgynous sport-coat-and-tie ensemble and a way-too-cool bouffant. Of course, we had to fuel this one with something other than tunes and Chivas’ blood-and-sand cocktails paired with cheese-laced brioche and pulled pork tacos from Dish Restaurant and Lounge. A spiffy and shiny set of wheels parked outside, courtesy of Lexus, worked just fine. THE BEFORE PARTY Dallas Mavericks pro Shawn Marion is an honorable member of our annual Men of Style roll, so it was only appropriate that this year’s group cheer on the home team during a game at the American Airlines Center. And that’s just what they did a few nights before the big Neiman Marcus bash—and in style, too, with platinum access from the AAC and VIP treatment virtually poured on by Belvedere Vodka. An exclusive list of the guys and their guests quickly filled the Modern Luxury Dallas suite for Belvedere cocktails, conversation and some game-watching, too. The Mavs may have lost to the L.A. Clippers, but the evening itself? A slam dunk.
