He Sings, He Scores!

| November 30, 2011 | Parties

“I’ll be singing a song I wrote about my illness, and I hope it inspires people,” said Ray Johnston during the 38th annual Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show kickoff at Stanley Korshak. The recipient of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society benefit event’s 2012 Heart of Gold Award, Johnston is a former Dallas Mavericks player and the lead singer of his eponymous country band. He’s also a leukemia survivor who counsels others afflicted with the disease and performs gratis for the cause. At the party, co-chairs Bunny Cotten, Angela Nash and Kristina Whitcomb also announced that longtime supporter Jack Turpin will serve as honorary chair. Photography by Kristina Bowman
