From the Academy Awards to big-time premieres, Hollywood Boulevard is typically reserved for elite film industry events (you know, when it’s not a buzzing tourist hub).
On Nov. 2, all that changed when the Gucci Love Parade took over the Walk of Fame, attracting the biggest names in entertainment, including, Lizzo, Salma Hayek, Billie Eilish, James Corden, Miley Cyrus and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The lineup of models was just as star-studded and featured celebrities outside of fashion, such as Gucci patron saint Jared Leto. His performance as the Italian fashion house’s former design chief in Ridley Soctt’s House of Gucci is just around the corner. Leto was joined by the likes of Jeremy Pope, Steve Lacy, Miranda July, Jodie Turner-Smith, St. Vincent and Phoebe Bridgers. What’s more, the internet was particularly excited to see Macaulay Culkin grace the runway.
Out of all the world’s great fashion cities, why Hollywood? Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele explained at length in a letter ahead of the show and reminded the world of Los Angeles’ greatness.

“Mum worked in the film industry as an assistant in a production company. I remember all the stories she told me, and the details and the sparkles, about that dream factory,” he wrote. “Back then, we lived in a squat in the outskirts of Rome. I needed to be able to breathe. Those subversive tales helped me in piercing the grayness. That was my escape, my desertion. Down in that tiny speck in the world, Hollywood seemed a bright and shiny star. Nine letters dripping with desire.”
“When I started thinking about the way I wanted to celebrate this new chapter in my adventurous job, I thought about mum and her precious legacy,” Michele continued. “I thought about the worship of beauty she fed me with. About the indefeasible gift of dreaming and the mythopoetic aura of cinema. This is why I chose Hollywood Boulevard… Los Angeles shines in its own magic, which is timeless; it’s a place that brushes the divinites, becoming a mythology of the possible.”

Michele’s vision proved to be a success. Even Mark Ronson, who has had more than his share of experiencing the most elite industry gatherings, deemed Gucci Love Parade as one of his favorite parties he’s ever DJ’d.
The new collection imbues that old Hollywood glam revered by Michele. With ‘70s-like statement suits, bold, feathered coats and voluptuous gowns, the Gucci Love Parade captured the storied aesthetic of the City of Angels.
