Pop singer Grimes is selling two of the items that made her 2021 Dune-inspired Met Gala look so memorable—and for a good cause.
The custom Chrishabana x Dune Harkonnen metal face mask and the pair of elven ear cuffs she wore are both going up on the Resistance For Ukraine: Benefit Auction 2022 which aims to support BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color) communities in the country.

The singer took to Instagram for the announcement, writing in a post, “Hey guys - I’m auctioning stuff from my Met gala look last year to raise money to help get BIPOC families out of Ukraine since they’re having trouble exiting at the border.”

The face mask was designed by New York-based jewelry designer Chrishabana, and the elven ears were designed by Romantic Elf Jewelry. The singer revealed that she originally bought both pieces on Etsy according to a report by Vanity Fair.
The pair join 50 other donated works in the auction, all of which will be exhibited by Be Nice Los Angeles and HVW8 Gallery. According to the auction website, each piece offers a unique interpretation of the theme “resistance.” All of the proceeds from the items will go to Razom, which provides resources and emergency assistance to those in Ukraine, as well as Diaspora Relief, which focuses on aiding Black communities in the country.
The mask is valued at $1,200 and the elven ears are valued at $1,500, though bids as of press time have reached $3,250 and $1,200 respectively.
The Met Gala theme of 2021 was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” Grimes and her stylist Turner were inspired by Frank Herbert’s novel Dune and styled these two items with a detailed silk gown by Iris Van Herpen, as well as a Middle Age-style sword borrowed from the Met which was made of a melted down Colt AR-15 rifle.
