French Accent

| August 25, 2011 | Parties

THE AFFAIR Francophiles and partygoers alike raised their glasses in celebration of La Fête Nationale, better known to non-native tongues as Bastille Day, on July 14. In honor of the French holiday, Hotel ZaZa served up one of the hautest scenes—berets and all. THE DETAILS Dramatically themed, Chez ZaZa turned up the ooh-la-la factor with a striking black-and-white scheme punctuated by sunflowers, while a gondolier, mime and beret-and-scarf-attired servers made theatrical rounds. FARE PLAY Guests sipped a Hendricks Gin mini-tini and noshed on petite edibles from Dragonfly, including Brie on French baguette with fig, tarragon chicken and mushroom crêpes, and classic Croque Monsieur sandwiches. Mountains of colorful macaroons were also a hit. Oui agree! Photography by Bruno
