Rashid Johnson provides a fresh perspective in his latest work on display at the Dallas Museum of Art.
REWRITING THE NARRATIVE, lauded multidisciplinary artist Rashid Johnson is constantly creating new avenues to tell his stories. In his latest installation, Focus On: Rashid Johnson—which Johnson himself gifted to the Dallas Museum of Art—the tour de force explores the complex balance between personal and cultural identity through an exploratory film installation.
“Rashid has been a pivotal member of the arts community, creating and supporting work both in and outside of the institution, and he is emblematic of the power of art to give voice to the contemporary experience,” shares the museum’s Eugene McDermott Director Agustín Arteaga. “It is of the utmost importance to our institution to expand the reach of our collection to touch every corner of our diverse community.” On view through Sept. 10, 2023, 1717 N.
