Style is a state of mind and fashion a means of expression, which is all the more important in our rapidly changing world. We check in with some of our city’s sartorial stars and brightest businesswomen for words of wisdom.
Catherine Lowe
CEO & Founder of LoweCo./LoweCo.ncierge
The most amazing thing to happen since I became a Woman of Style was…
I have two more children! I have another son and a daughter, which has been so wonderful. I am a woman with one heart inside and three hearts outside my body.
My big news is…
We have officially launched the executive arm of LoweCo.ncierge, my luxury gifting service exclusively in Dallas. LoweCo.ncierge is on its second year with private business clients and is planning to expand to personal customers
in the near future.
For me, 2020 has brought…
Perspective. I am so very blessed to have a family who is healthy and who loves each other, resources to take care of my family and those who are struggling, and a state of mind that allows me to endure chaos with gratitude and motivation to be better. I don’t always get it right, but I feel grateful that I have people that accept me, approach me with grace and sometimes much-needed rest!
This year has taught me…
Patience and acceptance.
My hope for the future is…
That we all are more empathetic toward each other and we truly listen to one another to bring about a more peaceful and compassionate existence.
My outlook has shifted by…
Truly understanding my priorities and always putting my children and my family ahead of anything. I feel like I’ve always been a considerate person, but it has turned more into Mama Bear mode these days!
I am supporting my local community by…
Shopping local, being respectful and continually learning.
Taylor Tomasi Hill
Creative & Fashion Director, THE YES
The most amazing thing to happen since I became a Woman of Style was…
My husband and I bought our first home in Bluffview. (Hello, commitment!) We’re slowly working on making it our own and giving it our own sense of style: perfectly imperfect.
For me, 2020 has brought…
A whirlwind of emotions! It’s been a real time for reflection and learning, which is never a bad thing.
Since I was featured, my style has changed by...
In a more ‘normal’ world, I was on a plane between San Francisco and New York every other week, so a carry-on uniform was key. Now, like many others I find my style much more relaxed as I am around my home and barefoot most days. Heels are temporarily retired!
I never expected that…
We would be launching a shopping app in the middle of a global pandemic and an important cultural movement. I do believe that fashion has its place during this time, though; everyone still needs a happy place!
In 2020, style is all about…
Comfort and function for Zoom calls. Basically, it’s not a great year if you’re pants!
To me, style is…
An expression of who I am and my love for experimenting.
Designers I love to support are…
Sacai, KULE, Deveaux New York, Khaite, Eres, Nanushka, Maison La Plage, BY FAR, Trave, Rodebjer, Palmer//Harding, Loewe, Marysia, lemlem, Toteme and Rosie Assoulin.
My big news is...
I’ve spent the last two years working furiously on a tech/fashion app called THE YES. It officially launched in May, and I’m so proud of the work we’ve done. It’s been the most difficult yet rewarding experience in my career to date. Every day, I’m learning more about the tech piece, which keeps things interesting.
