These dapper Dallas gents prove that success also comes with an eye on the art of fashion.
CALVIN LAMONT
Co-founder, Volume Income Properties Inc. (thelamontbrothers.com)
Calvin LaMont’s vivacious personality and charm lend themselves to his personal style. He and his brother, Chris LaMont, star in HGTV’s Buy It or Build It, where they have continued to gain a huge following. The secret to their success? Hard work, determination and a little panache thrown in the mix for good measure.
Tell us a bit more about your career trajectory and how it evolved.
We are really hard working and keep our heads down. We have been recognized for being young leaders in the affordable and workforce housing development industries and speak at conferences across the nation like the NCDA conference in Augusta, Ga., this fall.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love seeing ideas go to designs, then to plans and eventually executed to a home that families can build memories in for years to come
What’s next for you, or what can readers see from you next?
So much to come. Partnerships with great corporate partners where we will be able to bring you great homeowners tips to enhance the overall quality and efficiency of their homes. Also, we are in the beginning of writing our first book, title TBD. Look for that fall 2023. Lastly, continuing to partner with cities across the nation to develop entry-level and workforce housing to amazing deserving families.
How would you describe your style?
My style is quality and design over price and trends. I love great brands that offer unique thought-out designs that change with the seasons; materials thoughtfully sourced and manufactured so the feel and the looks last. I like designer luggage (can’t go anywhere far without my Gucci backpack and duffel).
Tell me about some typical outfits.
My personal design characteristics match my home design style. I like unique pieces that I can mix and match to create different cool, sleek and hopefully timeless looks.
Go-to fashion brand.
Both Chris and I love Rag & Bone as our go-to stop for cool looks for men. We both think it’s cutting edge but classic enough to keep as staples for season after season.
Guilty pleasure?
Sneakers or shoes. (I own over 100 pairs.)
SEBASTIAN LLETGET
Midfielder, FC Dallas (fcdallas.com)
As the newest player for FC Dallas, Sebastian Lletget is no stranger to the limelight. The San Francisco native first made his professional debut in London playing for West Ham United and has played for the United States national team—winning the Gold Cup and Nations League with them. With an eye for style, he shines on and off the field.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the camaraderie with my teammates. I like the challenges that soccer brings, and I think those struggles translate to life lessons.
How would you describe your style?
I would say clean but simple, straightforward. Not too loose fitting, not too tight. Right in the middle.
Go-to outfit?
I’m not going to lie, I love a nice Miami shirt, unbuttoned. You know, show the chest a little bit. That’s probably what I’d wear to dinner. And anywhere else, to be honest with you.
Style icon?
David Beckham has always been a idol thing as far as fashion goes. My teammate, Number 17, Nkosi Tafari—he’s a pretty stylish dude. I think he pushes people beyond their limits. I know he definitely does for me.
Do you have any favorite pieces?
My girlfriend (Becky G) got me a toiletry bag from Go Yard. This chain I’m wearing right now too is another favorite and is another gift from my girlfriend. It’s the Virgin Mary.
When do you feel the most comfortable?
I definitely feel most like me in my jersey on the weekend. But more than anything, just a simple shorts look with a collared shirt. That’s my go-to look.
How would you define great style?
I think anybody who’s expressing themselves authentically and not scared to push the boundaries.
Signature sip?
Tequila with club soda
CHRIS LAMONT
Co-founder, Volume Income Properties Inc. (thelamontbrothers.com)
"When you see me on our HGTV show Buy It or Build It, you will see the ‘contractor Chris’ look,” shares Chris LaMont in regard to his sense of style. “I am simple with clothing but sophisticated when it comes to sneakers and shoes. I love Nike, Jordan and basically all other brands when it comes to an exclusive release they may have or a designer that collaborates with a shoe company.” He and his brother Calvin both share a mutual affinity for luxe footwear, it appears…
How would you best describe your style?
I’m all about what you have on your feet. I think the shoe reveals who a person is and makes an outfit unique. You can be wearing a plain white shirt and some Levi’s jeans but have a pair of Travis Scott 1s or Nike What the Kobes on your feet that will have you stand out among the whole crowd. I get more compliments on my shoe game than if I am wearing a $1,000 designer shirt.
Style icon?
I would say LeBron James (not including the short suits he wears).
Speaking of suits... what’s your go-to? I am a big fan of Suitsupply. (I need a partnership with them!) They have high-quality suits and designs that I like. Simple, clean but also different, if that makes sense. I like pops of color when I wear anything. I believe black can be a pop of color too if you are wearing light colors.
What does the future hold for the LaMont brothers?
Our main goal for the next five years is to procure at least 2,000 lots around the country for entry-level and workforce housing for sale and provide affordable rental housing for those who are working toward homeownership.
