THE SETTING The 29th annual Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show found itself a new venue—the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center—to rousing success. THE SCENE Dubbed “heartstrings,” the event certainly pulled on a few. After a Champagne reception (proving it’s never too early in the morning for a mimosa), petite presenter Ellen Terry hopped arop a wooden box to present Crawford Brock with the Lynda Adleta Heart of Gold Award. She was followed by Alicia Landry, who presented the Spirit of Tom Landry Character Award to Joshua Cobler. Having provided bone marrow to save little brother Jude, Cobler urged guests to sign up to be bone marrow donors. THE CROWD After, a predominantly pink, red and leather clad crowd including chairs Angela Choquette, Maggie Kipp and Paige Slates, along with Muffin Lemak, Pat Smith, Lisa Troutt and Jocelyn White, turned their eyes to the stage—extended into a runway for the event. Underwriters Stanley Korshak put on a show of colorful spring fashions, featuring Monique Lhuillier. Later, a reception at Korshak topped off everyone’s Champagne flutes and made for the perfect after-party. Photography by Lara Bierner
