Celebrating its 35th anniversary, Children’s Cancer Fund (childrenscancerfund.com) will honor the city’s fiercest warriors again this spring. We caught up with gala chairs Lori Jones and Meredith Land to learn more.
Chairs Meredith Land and Lori Jones will welcome patrons to the milestone occasion.
What inspired you to chair CCF, and what makes this event particularly special?
LJ: This event goes beyond raising funds—it celebrates the strength and bravery of these young warriors. Watching them walk the runway, surrounded by love and encouragement, is a reminder of why this cause matters so much. It’s an opportunity to unite the community in a shared mission to fight childhood cancer and make a real difference together.
How is your family involved with the event and cause?
ML: We lost a good friend, Izzy Martin, not long after she walked the stage at the CCF gala. We were so proud of Izzy’s cancer fight and the way she lived her life. We vowed as a family to always support this cause in honor.
How does the support of notable names, including Troy Aikman and Dak Prescott, elevate this event?
LJ: Our family recognizes that the visibility of the Dallas Cowboys can help shine a light on great causes within our community. We are so thankful Dak and Troy leverage this same impact both on and off the field.
What can attendees expect from this year’s event, especially with the exciting theme and unique details planned?
LJ: The 35th Anniversary of the Children’s Cancer Fund Gala will be filled with heartwarming moments and exciting surprises. The signature runway show will once again feature our brave young superstars paired with celebrities, creating unforgettable moments of joy and connection. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to ensure a night that inspires and leaves a lasting impression.
Looking ahead, what are your hopes for the future of the Children’s Cancer Fund and Gala?
ML: Ultimately, we hope less children will have to suffer with cancer. We fight for this cause because pediatric cancer is dramatically underfunded, and that needs to change. This is a battle we will not step away from.
