How did the Café Dior by Dominique Crenn concept arise?
The conversations began organically, driven by a shared vision between Dior and myself to create something unique that transcends both fashion and cuisine. There was a mutual understanding that this project would celebrate artistry, craftsmanship and storytelling. My contributions focused on how we could translate Dior’s legacy into a culinary experience—drawing from the House’s archives, its connection to nature and its commitment to timeless elegance. Together we crafted a concept where every dish would reflect the beauty, detail and creativity that Dior has championed for decades.
In Dallas, Café Dior’s interiors dazzle.
How do you describe the new café’s decor and vibe?
It is an immersive space that captures the essence of 30 Montaigne [Dior’s Paris flagship], bringing the iconic codes of Dior to life. The café’s design blends timeless elegance with modern sophistication, reflecting both the House’s rich heritage and its strong connection to Dallas. The atmosphere evokes the spirit of Christian Dior’s American journey, which began in 1947 when he received the prestigious Neiman Marcus Award in this vibrant city, just months after the debut of his groundbreaking New Look in Paris.
What can you say about the menu?
Like all of my menus, I aim to tell a story through the senses. Each dish is inspired by a revered piece from Dior’s archives, with the artistry behind each design serving as a muse. The intricate details reflect the craftsmanship I hold dear, rooted in timeless beauty. The menu harmoniously blends the boldness of French and American cuisine, celebrating both in a way that feels effortless and natural. It honors my roots while embracing the limitless possibilities of merging these two cultures.

How is this café different than your three-Michelin-starred restaurant Atelier Crenn in San Francisco and anything else you’ve done in the past?
Designing a menu that mirrors Dior’s iconic designs pushed me to think differently about how food can evoke the same sense of wonder as a beautifully crafted garment. It’s a fusion of two worlds I deeply admire, and the result is an experience that feels both intimate and extraordinary.
