The great outdoors gets an elegant upgrade with three Texas properties that elevate camping to a luxury experience.
Collective Retreats' Summit and Outlook tents have hardwood floors made from local timber

With the fairly recent invention of glamping, it was only a matter of time before the idea set up camp in Texas. A handful of luxury spots are now in the Lone Star State, and we’ve found a trio of exceptional options. First up: Wimberley’s Collective Retreats (Outlook Shelter, $550). A dozen luxe tents set on the 225-acre Montesino Ranch are less than an hour from Austin and invite guests to experience the outdoors with the ease of a five-star hotel stay. Sumptuous 1,500-thread count sheets on king beds, on-site staff 24 hours a day, a nightly communal campfire, private decks and Wi-Fi are bookended by chef-prepared meals, including BBQ in a Box, where the chef gathers all the ingredients for your own outdoor barbeque and the staff sets up and cleans up. All you have to do is grill. Fly-fishing, horseback riding, zip lining and in-tent massages can be done on the property, but you’re also encouraged to venture to the Hill Country’s celebrated wineries. A personal concierge can plan your entire itinerary with dinner reservations and local concerts.
