SMU isn’t the only beneficiary of Nancy and the late Robert H. Dedman’s generosity, where the law school, the liberal arts college and the rec center all bear the Dedman name. The mega-philanthropists long ago established a Lifetime Achievement Award for an outstanding community leader to be presented at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas’ annual Billiard Ball. At this year’s elegant dinner, chaired by Fay and Brian Lidji at Brook Hollow Golf Club, the prize went to another Bob (a.k.a. Bobby B. Lyle), who also happens to have an SMU connection—the engineering school is named after him.
