THE SETTING Twinkling pine trees, a sleigh, a light sprinkling of snow and the traditionally jewel-tone-clad debs transformed The Fairmont Dallas into an idyllic winter wonderland for the 98th Annual Calyx Club Winter Ball, themed “Christmas in Central Park.” THE SCENE Before the ball, pres Bill Woodall hosted 120 guests at cocktails, followed by the annual President’s Dinner. During the meal, “toast and roast” videos in the style of an E! True Hollywood Story got lots of laughs as they poked good-hearted fun at the debutantes—Amelia Crank, Laura Rowsey and Krystal Schlegel—and officers Quint Brown, Josh Cortez, John Jamison and Fritz Konker, as well as Woodall. THE CROWD After some postdinner dancing to music by the Phares Corder Orchestra, guests such as Margot and Kyle Goss, Sara Huggins, Cari Lowry, Steele Wright and others were escorted into an aptly themed after-party: New Year’s Eve in Times Square. Between the balloon twisters making brightly colored crowns and Austin-based band The Space Rockers belting out everything from the Beastie Boys to Britney Spears in Star Trek-esque costumes, it was a night to remember.
