Artist in Residence

| May 23, 2013 | Parties National

THE SETTING The Goss-Michael Foundation celebrated the opening of an exhibit by British-born artist Dan Rees, its first official resident artist, by inviting guests to admire original works he created during his stay. THE SCENE Rees himself was in attendance, greeting admirers of his painting-meets-sculpture pieces, which incorporated Plasticine, Artex (the material responsible for those ’70s era swirled and textured walls of your childhood home), rocks, pebble dash and oils. Guests sipped Champagne during the relaxed evening of fun, while basking in the portrayed nostalgia of the Welsh suburb where Rees grew up. THE CROWD Joining the foundation crew—Kenny Goss, Joyce Goss, Associate Director Ariel Saldivar and Curator Aphrodite Gonou—were many familar faces, including Anais Assoun, Barbara and Don Daseke, Claire and Dwight Emanuelson, Gregg Asher and David Martin, Jessica Nowitzki, Ken Downing and Sam Saladino.
