The Dallas gallery scene is abuzz with new faces and places to explore and inspire. Below are eight of our favorites.
Conduit Gallery first opened its space to the Dallas art community in 1984. Today, the gallery continues to maintain its longstanding presence in the area that it has become well-known for, thanks to the talent of its 30 core artists who provide a sustained, rigorous list of exhibitions each year and the gallery’s dedication to both represented and unrepresented artists. Beloved by art novices and experts alike, Conduit Gallery runs two exhibitions simultaneously in addition to its Project Room, an in-house space reserved for works by young contemporary artists. Owner and director Nancy Whitenack and director and project room curator Danette Dufilho ensure the integrity and continued variety of works displayed at Conduit Gallery of contemporary art exhibitions, showcasing established rising stars from Texas and around the world. 1626 Hi Line Drive, Ste. C, Dallas, conduitgallery.com
A Dallas-based contemporary art gallery focusing on emerging and mid-career artists, Gallery 12.26 was founded by sisters Hannah Fagadau and Hilary Fagadau in 2019 to offer a fresh, international perspective to the Dallas art community and gallery landscape. Located in the heart of the Dallas Design District since 2009, Galleri Urbane began in the front two rooms of Ree and Jason Willaford’s Victorian-style former home in Silver City, New Mexico. Jason’s first exhibition, titled “Belly of the Cowgirl,” garnered widespread public praise and led to the official launch of Galleri Urbane in 1999. The gallery has hosted pop-up exhibitions in Marfa, Texas, and today, it continues its commitment as a leader in the presentation and promotion of contemporary art under the direction of curator Ree Willaford and manager Jason Willaford. Working independently with private and corporate collections and collaborating with art brokers and architectural and design professionals, the gallery collaborates with clients to implement and manage art consultation projects. 2277 Monitor St., Dallas, galleriurbane.com
