Reed Robertson Reed Robertson | February 10, 2020 |
Tonight we saw the culmination of months of red carpet poses, countless amounts of silk and chiffon and endless amounts of diamonds. No, this was not Elton John’s second farewell tour (although, he did make a cameo). This was the end of another fabulous Awards Season, the 92nd Academy Awards. As far as red carpet fashion goes, this is the Olympics. And these celebrites did not come for bronze, they came to take gold! So without further longwindedness, I present my best dressed from the 2020 Academy Awards.
Cynthia Erivo in Custom Atelier Versace
She’s given us Thom Browne, Schiaparelli, and just when we thought she couldn’t slay our fashion desires any further, she shows up in this body con dramatic swirl of couture cotton candy that we just could not take our eyes off of.
Janelle Monae in Custom Ralph Lauren
Sure her opening performance was downright electric, but she already had a standing ovation from moi in this Grace Jones meets Princess Leia spectacle. You also have to give this girl snaps cause she just knows how to slay a pose. TEACH ME JANELLE!!!
Scarlett Johannsson in Custom Oscar de la Renta
The whole night felt like a nod to old Hollywood Glamour and I think ScarJo was the epitome of this elegance in this bodice baring, metallic creation that just sent me over the edge with heart eye emojis.
Beanie Feldstein in Custom Miu Miu
I know I tend to overuse the word moment, but my little Beanie Baby is legit having one. This once again nodded to the Hollywood of yesteryear and the fit and tailoring of this gown is just superb!!
Regina King in Custom Atelier Versace
Ms, King if you please!! Do not come on my television and slay like this… who gave you the person to make me palpitate in such a way. Donatella killed this creation for her, looking every bit the regal goddess she is.
Natalie Portman in Dior Haute Couture
So yes, the dress is utterly fabulous. And yes, her hair cut inspires me so much I want to write a song about it, but the real winner here is the accompanying Dior cape with all of the names of the Female Directors who were snubbed this year embroidered on the trim.
Gal Gadot in Givenchy Haute Couture
Wonder Woman goes soft and sensual in this lace infused lewk from Clare Waight Keller’s Givenchy. I love how Gadot showed us once again you don’t have to show a ton of skin to be sexy. I also would like this to be my Halloween costume, cause I really really enjoy it.
Florence Pugh in Custom Louis Vuitton
Say what you want about this lewk, but Imma break it down for you really quick. Pugh is 24 years old and for her first Oscars moment, I cannot think of a better first outing. The highlow detail is sophisticated but not over the top, and this color is so beautiful I just petitioned for it to legally adopt me.
Brie Larson in Custom Celine by Hedi Slimane
Whoever said that not all superheroes wear capes, would probably rethink the ensemble after seeing Larson last night. And once again, the tailoring here in superb!
Renne Zellweger in Armani Prive
Zellweger was the crowd favorite for tonight’s best actress prize and if her lewk was any indication, she knew it. The column is classic Armani Prive, and the one shoulder cut out felt feminine but chic.
And lastly…
Brad Pitt in Who Cares and I’m not Listening
All I have to say is ‘ALEXA, Play ‘Eternal Flame’ by the Bangles…
