Super Bowl Sunday is the annual (and only) excuse to throw a party on a Sunday.
American culture is rife with celebration, but somehow, this quasi-holiday feels the most American of them all: beer, buffalo wings, and a ball game.
The Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals will be playing in Super Bowl LVI on February 13th at 3:30 p.m. PST.
Whether you’re a certified football fan or a casual sports viewer, you probably have attended Super Bowl parties in your past.
If 2022 is the year you decide to host, or rather, are forced into hosting, fear not: we’ve compiled the best party ideas so you can tackle game day.
Being the sole provider of food at a party can feel daunting. Therefore, we recommend doing a potluck style event. Either call for a food free-for-all or, decide on a theme. For instance, you could have everyone bring a different dip. Buffalo chicken dip and S’mores dip are always fan favorites. Prompt your guests to get creative with their dip.
Or, take a cue from a viral TikTok trend— make a nacho table. Cover a fold-up table with tinfoil, then cover the table with chips, queso cheese, ground beef, hot peppers, salsa, and any other nacho toppings your heart desires. Beer is typically the drink of choice for football games. Let’s raise you one: create a craft beer bar for your guests. Set up flights of beer, so your guests can choose their favorite. Stock your cooler with the local breweries’ selections, and have your guests argue about which one is the best.
But if a classic Corona is more your speed, elevate the simple beer by making a Tequila Sunrise. Empty some of the beer to make space, then add a hefty pour of tequila, a dash of grenadine, and a fresh lime slice. Typically, this drink pairs best with the beach— but we all need some warmth in our lives, anyways.
If all else fails, you can’t go wrong with pitchers of mimosas. It will be a Sunday, after all, and the most appropriate day for a mimosa is the day before Monday.
Truthfully, it can be difficult to embrace the spirit of the Super Bowl if your team isn’t playing. Still, why not take the opportunity to dress up for the occasion? Assign each of your guests a team color, and see who shows up in the most creative attire.
