Write this down, take a little note: George Strait will headline a two-night show later this month in Fort Worth.
Top male vocalist, entertainer of the year, artist of the decade and Texan of the year—these are just a few of the accolades synonymous with George Strait. After all, how else does one get named the King of Country? The Hall of Famer has spent so many years sitting comfortably on the Billboard charts that his name is practically emblazoned at the top. “It’s been my life for over 40 years,” Strait humbly shares, talking about playing onstage. “What a blessing.” A blessing indeed, not only for Strait and his Ace in the Hole Band, but for his millions of loyal fans who have been along for the wild ride since the very beginning with Strait’s first No. 1 single, “Fool Hearted Memory.” Now, four decades later, Strait holds 60 No. 1 hits. And while he is certainly country royalty, Strait’s hobbies span far outside the realm of music. An avid outdoorsman—his ideal weekend consists of fishing in the morning and topping off the day with a round of golf in the afternoon—Strait also has a heavy hand in the community. “My wife, Norma, and I started the Jenifer Strait Memorial Foundation years ago so we’re able to help various children’s charities,” shares Strait. He and his wife have been married for nearly 50 years. “We also help with Feherty’s Troops First Foundation and Military Warriors Support Foundation,” he adds. “It’s great to be in a position to help our military heroes.” Most recently, this Renaissance man has dipped his toes into the spirits industry with Código 1530 tequila, which has swept over the F&B industry and is now carried in all 50 states and in 20 countries. Needless to say, Strait is constantly on the move, possessing an enthusiasm that never ceases to amaze. What’s next? “I’m coming to Fort Worth to open the new Dickies Arena. I have more planned for next year, including Vegas… should be fun!” We have no doubt that King George has a lot more magic up his sleeve, and we can promise that whatever’s on the horizon will be pure country gold. After all, everything he does is with gusto and love. It’s a love without end, amen.
