Southern Botanical has been Dallas’ leader in landscaping for over 25 years. We asked the pros for their top tips on keeping your outdoor space looking its best.
More than 100 trees were planted on the grounds of this Preston Hollow home, including around the pool, to ensure privacy.
1. For Landscape Design
Separate garden “rooms” with low hedges along with flower borders or hardscape features.
2. For Veggies
Low-profile sunny areas could benefit from a vegetable garden or raised planters for back-saving, easy access.
3. For Shady Areas
Simplify and clean up paths with decorative granite or a step path with natural stone and shade-loving ground cover versus muddy areas where it might be hard to grow turf.
The home features formal gardens and 15,000 square feet of locally quarried, custom-cut limestone paving.
4. For Perennial Gardens
These can be created with a variety of plants or for a variety of flowers to have something blooming every month of the year. Along with foliage plants (or possibly insignificant flowers), adding a variety of textures and colors to the landscape provides added interest throughout the year.
5. For Grilling Out Back
Upgrade your backyard grill by converting one of your garden “rooms” into a shaded outdoor kitchen or hangout area surrounded by cooling landscape highlights.
