Actor and writer McKaley Miller has made a name for herself starring in heart-pumping thrillers. This month, she stars in Ma alongside Octavia Spencer. Here, the 23-year-old Flower Mound native tells us why she loves a horror film, her family’s dinner tradition and how she got the acting bug.
ONE
“My parents are the greatest people in the world, and my little brother is so much cooler than I’ll ever be. He’s in college and plays on the drum line.”
TWO
“My first acting experience was in the fourth grade. My friend’s dad was directing a Lifetime movie and I got to be an extra. Being on set was incredible. I told my mom, ‘This is what I’m gonna do.’”
THREE
“My family’s all in Texas. We have Miller Mexican food night and we always go to Anna Maria’s in Flower Mound. They know our order before we even sit down.”
FOUR
“I just got home at 8:30am this morning. I’m doing night shoots right now for a Hulu anthology series called Pure where they release a movie each month. Mine comes out in September.”
FIVE
“Butter is another movie I’m in that will be on the festival circuit. I worked with Mira Sorvino and Michael T. Williamson on that. He played Bubba in Forrest Gump.”
