The 3rd Annual Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse Dallas is right around the corner and the home design world is excited. Here is a list of a few inspired, genius, and eye-catching designers to keep an eye out for at the exhibit.
Isabel Ladd is an eccentric designer in Lexington, Kentucky. Her work is centered around the idea that you need to love your home. Her intentional maximalist style is interesting, bold, and playful. She has taken this design opportunity to “pull out all the stops and go big” because she loves the community and spirit of the Kips Bay collaboration. Isabel is drawn to curated layers and saturated hues. Expect to see bright Brazilian Yellow in her tropical outdoor terrace design. There will also be an element of surprise that she has collaborated with the Kips Bay graphic designer, Scott Velozo, to create.
“Diane Vreeland famously quipped, 'the eye must travel,' and my interpretation of that is that I want so many statement pieces throughout, that I want your eye to travel from one bold statement to the next.”- Isabel Ladd
Dallas-based Noel Pittman has a chic and timeless eye and her designs incorporate a mix of old and new pieces to reflect the people living in the homes she composes. Noel’s design perspective is fresh and personal. For the Kips Bay showhouse, she is most excited for the classic and beautiful “go-to” elements she is using in her space. Although a laundry room is typically a transitional utility space, Noel finds it important to make every area of a home inviting. To do this she will be using warm whites and cafe curtains to transform the appearance of the more practical room.
Los Angeles’ creative visionary Natasha Baradan fosters a layered, sophisticated, yet approachable flow in her projects. Her serene Kips Bay bedroom is “a love letter to womanhood.” She approached the space as if she were the client and created a room that marries luxury design and wellness for a modern woman to unwind and recharge. Her inspiration for the emphasis on wellness comes from her Angeleno culture. Natasha is appreciative to be a part of Kips Bay because the opportunity to participate in something creative that supports a worthy cause is optimal for her.
“Luxury is not frivolity, it’s about nurturing yourself so you can give to others from your abundance. – I envisioned a sanctuary space for today’s empowered woman, who is the matriarch in both her career and family, and undoubtedly the main character in her story.” - Natasha Baradan
Leah Alexander’s Beauty is Abundant is a motivated, bi-coastally located, design studio that is nominated for this year's HGTV “Designer of the Year'' award. Leah Alexander is the heart of the brand and she gathers her forward design prerogative around vibrant colors, precision, the “less is more” concept. Leah is excited because “The Kips Bay Decorators Show House is a dream combination of philanthropy, high design, and camaraderie among an elite group of Designers.” For her Kips Bay composition she is taking the chance to design however their team wishes. It is sounding like their uplifting “Intergalactic Superstar Bathroom” will be a true expression of Beauty is Abundant’s technique and mission with no outside limitations.
M + M Interior Design is run by two talented sisters, Leslie Martin and Kim Meardon, who bring dynamic strengths to their brand. They describe one of the main characteristics of their design methods as collected. The two women are honored to have been chosen for Kips Bay this year. They took this charity driven and clientless project as a chance to design freely by taking risks such as using gorgeous fabrics that sometimes would be impractical. Kips Bay attendees can expect to be wowed by their work in the lounge area which will include beautiful books and a “Reading Room” feel inspired by the “quirky yet formal” concept of British sensibility.
“We truly let a space speak to us before we begin designing. We stand in an empty space and observe where the light comes in, what the sight-lines are, and where the little moments are that we can carve out to be special.” - Leslie Martin
