Swinging into town later this month, the 2023 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship (srpga.com) will have golf fans teeing up for the milestone event. We caught up with Championship Director Jason Mengel to learn more.
Having recently revealed the new Home of PGA of America and hosting this month’s 2023 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, what can fans expect?
This is a historic moment for the PGA of America as we welcome one of the most vital fields in senior golf to the first event at our new home in Frisco. It’s an exciting time to be a golf fan in this community. We look forward to kicking off an unprecedented run of major championships with the 2023 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.
What are you most focused on as you’re preparing for the exciting lineup of the PGA Championship, the KitchenAid Senior Championship and the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship?
We aim to create a world-class experience for all stakeholders, including competitors, sponsors and spectators. These events define golfers’ careers, and it is a bucket list item for spectators in attendance. We do not take that responsibility lightly and want everyone in attendance to feel welcome.

When will Frisco host the PGA Championship or any other Major championships?
Starting with the 83rd KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship (May 24-28), PGA Frisco is slated to host six major championships over the next 12 years—including two PGA Championships.
Now that you’re a proud resident of North Texas, what are some of your favorite things to do?
My free time away from the office is mainly devoted to enjoying time with my family. My wife Jill, and our daughters Ryan (14) and Blake (8), and son Colin (12). We are all looking forward to being “regulars” at the Monument Realty PGA District at PGA Frisco, utilizing the Dance Floor, putting green and enjoying the retail and dining experiences.
